Energy Saving​

Operating Hours of Chiller System

A new initiative aimed at reducing energy consumption during exhibitions has shown promising results. The trial involved a 30-minute reduction in the operating hours of the chiller system, and usually cleaning condenser, a key component in maintaining optimal conditions for event spaces.

As part of this initiative, energy consumption data is being meticulously measured and analyzed in post-event and annual venue reports. This ongoing assessment will help identify additional opportunities for energy reduction across the venue, ensuring continued progress toward sustainability goals.

LED Lighting & Signage

Embracing 100% LED Lighting in Event Halls
As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency, we have fully transitioned to 100% LED lighting within our event halls. This initiative represents a significant leap forward in reducing our carbon footprint while enhancing the overall experience for event attendees.

Strategic Waste Management Partnership: PTTGC, SCGP, and Wake Up Waste.

In a concerted effort to tackle waste management challenges and promote sustainable practices, leading companies PTTGC, SCGP, and Wake Up Waste have joined forces. This strategic partnership reflects a shared commitment to reducing environmental impact and fostering a circular economy through innovative waste management solutions.

Together, PTTGC, SCGP, and Wake Up Waste are not just managing waste—we are transforming it into a valuable resource, demonstrating that innovative, collaborative approaches can lead to meaningful environmental progress.

SCGP Enhanced Paper Recycling Campaign: “We Draw The Future Together“

Collaboration Campaign: “We Draw The Future Together“ As part of its ongoing dedication to sustainability, BITEC X SCGP launched the “We Draw The Future Together” campaign, focused on enhancing paper recycling efforts.   This initiative underscores the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship and its proactive approach to creating a circular economy.

Key Achievements:
45,730* kg of Paper Waste Recycled: The campaign successfully collected and recycled 45,730 kg of paper waste, demonstrating the effectiveness of SCGP recycling initiatives.

Partnership with PTTGC for “YOUTURN” Campaign

BITEC X PTTGC Collaboration: “YOUTURN” Campaign, Starting in August 2023, this collaboration now covers the entire plastic waste ecosystem, aiming to revolutionize waste management practices within BITEC and beyond.

Key Achievements:
– 3,415* kg of Plastic Waste Collected: As part of the campaign, 3,415 kg of plastic waste has already been collected. This milestone marks a significant step in reducing plastic waste and creating a sustainable waste ecosystem within BITEC.

– Creating Value from Plastic Waste: The YOUTURN PLATFORM is designed to unlock the potential value of plastic waste. By involving the entire BITEC community, the platform promotes innovative approaches to recycling and waste reduction, turning what was once waste into valuable resources that can be reused within the production cycle.

Wake Up Waste Collaboration Campaign: “Wake Up Waste”

The “Wake Up Waste” campaign, launched on November 23, is a dedicated recycling management platform designed to collect and recycle materials such as glass bottles and aluminum cans. This initiative aims not only to manage waste effectively but also to benefit the community by turning waste into valuable resources.

Key Achievements:
•4,105* kg of Aluminum Waste Collected: Since its inception, the “Wake Up Waste” campaign has successfully collected 4,105 kg of aluminum waste. This significant achievement highlights the campaign’s effectiveness in promoting recycling and reducing aluminium.

LED Digital Signage & Media

BITEC LED Digital Signage Initiative: A Sustainable Shift in Onsite Marketing BITEC is leading the way in sustainable onsite marketing with the launch of its LED digital archways, wall media, event signage, and indoor-outdoor billboards. This initiative represents a significant step towards reducing waste and lowering carbon emissions, while also providing new revenue opportunities.

Key Achievements:
– 65% Reduction in Single-Use Materials: From September to December 2023, BITEC achieved a 65% reduction in single-use materials for archway construction across 19 exhibitions, compared to previous events. This milestone moves BITEC closer to its target of a 70% reduction across 29 exhibitions.

– Ongoing Expansion: By 2024, BITEC plans to continue the design and installation of new digital signage in public areas of the venue. This will further enhance event promotion while maintaining a focus on sustainability.

Aluminum Drinking Water Cans

BITEC has embraced the use of 100% aluminum cans for all type of events, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and reducing environmental impact. Aluminum is one of the most recyclable materials available, and by opting for aluminum cans, BITEC is taking a significant step towards promoting a circular economy.

By utilizing 100% aluminum cans, BITEC is not only enhancing its sustainability practices but also encouraging event organizers and attendees to participate in recycling efforts. This initiative aligns with BITEC’s broader goals of reducing waste, conserving resources, and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility within the events industry.

Water Conservation

Self Service Drinking Water Stations & Water Dispenser

BITEC has taken a significant step towards sustainability by installing drinking water stations and water dispensers throughout its venue, particularly in the meeting rooms and exhibition organizers’ offices. This initiative is designed to reduce the reliance on single-use plastic bottles, encouraging delegates to use their own refillable water bottles or tumblers, thus promoting water conservation and minimizing waste.

Key Achievements :
– 63% Reduction in Plastic Bottle Consumption: Between July and December 2023, BITEC achieved an average 63% reduction in plastic bottle usage, compared to a baseline of 138,498 bottles in 2022. This substantial decrease highlights the success of the water station initiative and the positive response from delegates and organizers.

– CO2 Emissions Saved: By reducing the consumption of plastic bottles, BITEC has also significantly decreased its carbon footprint. The initiative has resulted in the saving of 16,997 kilograms of CO2 emissions, furthering BITEC’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

Plug & Play Model At BHIRAJ Hall

Between July 23 – June 24, BITEC has welcomed 260,000 attendees to various events, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability. Strategically located near the BTS Bang Na station, BITEC offers easy access to multiple public transportation options, making it convenient for visitors to reach the venue while minimizing their environmental impact. By promoting the use of public transportation, BITEC aims to significantly reduce the logistical footprint of event attendance, contributing to lower carbon emissions and a greener event experience.

Key Features and Impact:
– Encouraging Public Transit: BITEC actively promotes the use of public transportation options such as the BTS Skytrain, buses, and shuttle services to make traveling to and from the venue more convenient and eco-friendly for attendees.

– Reducing Traffic and Emissions: By advocating for public transit, BITEC helps reduce the number of individual car journeys, leading to lower traffic congestion and a decrease in carbon emissions associated with event attendance.

BITEC Plug & Play model is more than just a technical solution; it’s part of a broader commitment to sustainability. By reducing the logistical footprint of events, this model helps lower carbon emissions while still delivering high-quality experiences for organizers and attendees. This approach not only enhances event efficiency but also aligns with BITEC goal of promoting environmentally responsible practices in the MICE industry.

BITEC offers easy access to multiple public transportation options, making it convenient for visitors to reach the venue while minimizing their environmental impact. By promoting the use of public transportation, BITEC aims to significantly reduce the logistical footprint of event attendance, contributing to lower carbon emissions and a greener event experience.

Key Initiatives:
•BTS Skytrain: BITEC is easily accessible via Bang Na station on the BTS Skytrain, allowing visitors to avoid traffic and reduce emissions.
•Bus by NEX Express: NEX Express buses provide reliable transportation to and from BITEC, offering an efficient and sustainable travel option.
•MuvMe Service: The eco-friendly MuvMe service offers convenient rides around key locations including BEAT Active, BHIRAJ Tower at BITEC, BITEC Halls, Summer Lasalle, and more, supporting short-distance travel in the area.
•EV Charging Stations: Visitors driving electric vehicles can utilize BITEC EV charging stations, encouraging the use of clean energy.

Sustainable Food Selection

Sustainable Food Selection: In Terrace Buffet & Cafe and Locally Sourced Beverages

BITEC is committed to offering a dining experience that prioritizes sustainability and supports local communities. Our Sustainable Food Selection includes the In Terrace Buffet & Cafe, and our specially curated MICE drinks, sourced from the community around BITEC.

Key Features:
– Experience a diverse international buffet at our In° terrace Buffet, where sustainability is a priority. We focus on using fresh, locally sourced ingredients from surrounding communities, reducing the environmental impact and supporting regional farmers, while delivering a delicious dining experience.

– BITEC coffee selection, now available on BITEC online order, is sourced from Pang Khon, ensuring high-quality beans that support sustainable farming practices. Additionally, our signature MICE drinks are crafted with ingredients from the communities surrounding BITEC (Bang Krachao), providing unique and refreshing options while helping sustain local producers and reducing the carbon footprint from long-distance transport.

Social & Community ​

Community Employment Hiring

BITEC has strengthened its commitment to supporting local communities by significantly increasing the hiring of casual staff from nearby areas. This initiative not only boosts local employment but also contributes to the economic growth of the Bangna District.

Key Achievements :
– 15% Increase in Local Hiring: BITEC has increased the hiring of casual staff from nearby communities by 15% in 2023, with 82% of casual staff now coming from these areas, compared to 71% in 2022. This reflects BITEC’s dedication to empowering local talent and providing job opportunities within the community.

– Bangna District Focus: Maintaining a strong connection with the surrounding area, 70% of the casual staff hired in 2023 are from the Bangna District, within a 5-10 km radius of BITEC. This focus ensures that the benefits of employment are felt directly by those living closest to the venue.

– Economic Impact: In 2023, BITEC provided employment for 20,127 individuals, contributing 12.5 million Baht in wages. This substantial investment in local labor not only supports the livelihood of community members but also drives economic growth in the area.

Corporate Social Responsibility Program [CSR]

BITEC in collaboration with SCGP, has undertaken a meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at supporting education and child welfare through sustainable practices.

Key Contributions:
– Donating Recycled Furniture and Paper: As part of their commitment to sustainability, BITEC and SCGP have donated furniture sets made from recycled paper, along with A4 paper produced from recycling processes. These donations have been made to three deserving organizations:
Wat BangnaNai School (RuernSayamnat)
SOS Children’s Village Bangpoo, Samutprakarn
The Children’s Foundation in Salam, under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Royal Consort of His Majesty King Rama X.

– Providing Midday Meals: In addition to the donations, BITEC and About Food Company Limited, a company within the Bhiraj Buri Group  have extended their support by providing midday meals to the Children’s Foundation in Salam and the House of Hope Foundation. This effort ensures that children in these communities receive nutritious meals, contributing to their overall well-being.

This CSR initiative reflects BITEC and SCG Packaging’s dedication to combining sustainability with social responsibility. By repurposing materials into functional items and supporting local educational and child welfare organizations, they are making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need while promoting environmental consciousness.
