BITEC and SOS Thailand Join Forces to Turn Surplus into Support — Fighting Hunger, Reducing Waste, and Inspiring Sustainable Impact

Bangkok, Thailand – Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) continues to lead by example in driving sustainability and community well-being, being recognised by Scholars of Sustenance Thailand (SOS Thailand) with the “Best Sustaining Partner” award at the SOS Thailand Awards 2025. This recognition highlights BITEC’s unwavering commitment to sustainability, circular-economy practices, and long-term community impact — values deeply rooted in the vision of the Bhiraj Buri Group (BBG).

Fighting Hunger and Food Waste with Purpose

BITEC has partnered with SOS Thailand, a pioneering food rescue foundation, to help reduce food waste and redistribute surplus food to communities in need. This collaboration exemplifies BITEC’s belief that sustainability must be tangible — transforming resources that would otherwise go to waste into meaningful nourishment for people in need.

According to the SOS Thailand 2025 report, the combined efforts of SOS and its partners have resulted in:
– 2,408,002 kilograms of food rescued and shared
– Equivalent to 10,113,609 meals reaching 2,234,580 people
– Representing a total social value of THB 505,680,454 (based on an estimated value of THB 50 per meal)

BITEC is proud to have contributed to this collective impact as part of its continuous mission to promote food security in Thailand and combat hunger and food waste.

Sustainability at the Core of BITEC’s DNA

As part of BBG’s “People – Planet – Profit” vision, BITEC creates environments where business thrives, life flourishes, and play inspires — all underpinned by sustainable action. From large-scale MICE events to daily operations, BITEC integrates environmental and social responsibility into its business model.

Over recent years, BITEC has advanced its sustainability agenda through multiple initiatives including waste management, energy saving, water conservation, air quality improvement, sustainable food selections, and community engagement.

Especially in food, BITEC’s collaboration with SOS Thailand focuses on minimizing food waste and redistributing surplus food to local communities — helping achieve food security in Thailand and addressing hunger and food waste nationwide.
These efforts reflect BITEC’s belief that every event can leave a positive legacy for people, planet, and business.

Mr. Daniel Bucher, Managing Director – F&B Businesses , BITEC , shared:

“What began as a difficult mission has become a daily commitment — supporting some of Bangkok’s most vulnerable communities. Receiving the ‘Best Sustaining Partner’ recognition from SOS Thailand is an honour that belongs to every member of our team and our partners. Sustainability must be woven into the fabric of how we operate, how we host events, and how we connect with our community. This award inspires us to do even more.”

BITEC views this award not as a destination, but as a milestone on a longer journey. The company continues to explore new frontiers — enhancing stakeholder engagement, and measuring outcomes in social and environmental terms as well as business performance.

BITEC invites clients, partners, and visitors to join this journey — leveraging BITEC’s world-class facilities for events that are not only successful but sustainable.
