Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony of WEEC 2019

The tenth edition of the World Environmental Education Congress began this morning (4th November) under the best auspices: HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn took part in the opening ceremony and gave the inaugural speech.

Dr. Sumet Tantivejkul, Honorary Chairman of WEEC2019 Steering Committee, Secretary General of the Chaipattana Foundation and Mario Salomone, Secretary General of the WEEC International Network gave also their speeches.

Mr. Niclas Svenningsen, Manager of Global Climate Action, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), for the first time at WEEC Congress, delivers a special message for the delegates.
The opening ceremony was also an opportunity to have a short presentation of the GLOBE Youth Camp Students.

The video messages from of Inger Andersen UNEP Executive Director and Stefania Giannini Assistant Director General for Education UNESCO closed the ceremony.

The congress is in progress and parallel sessions have begun on the various activities, the poster spaces, the exhibition area, the informal networking moments. Delegates from around 70 countries will be able to work together and discuss until November 6th

Remember on November 5th, at the WEEC Network booth (Bhiraj Hall 1), at 10:30 there will be a joint launch for the Italian and the Thai translation of the 'My Green School' Book, written by Lyonpo Thakur S. Powdyel.

At Amber 4 at 13 will be held the session called “The evolution of Environmental Education see through the WEEC”, with the participation of former Chairs of the last editions:

Ihssane El Marouani - WEEC 2013

Cam Mackenzie - WEEC 2011

Antonella Bachiorri - WEEC 2005

At 16.30 it will be the turn of the session “Water for life and Water WEEC”, moderate by Prof. Abidelfatah Nasser and Dr. John Bavor.

On November 6th, don’t forget to participate at the Closing Ceremony in which the destination of the WEEC 2021 will be made official.
